One size doesn't fit all

This blog has been created to act as a resource for parents and teachers to extend talented and gifted students across the primary and intermediate school years in the area of 'competitions'. If our talented and gifted children are not challenged in all areas of learning in and out of the classroom, they are the ones that become lost and turned off learning.  I encourage you if your child needs extending in any of the curriculum areas, you approach your child's teacher with information about a competition that may be listed on this site.  I also encourage you to interact on this blog with the comments icon of what you found interesting, useful or other competitions that may be available that are not listed here.  This blog is for you.  We only have one chance with our child's education so if you have a talented or gifted child, extend them and let them enjoy the challenges and problem solving in a competitive forum!

For more information about talented and gifted students you can click on the TKI website at the top of the blog and the various tabs on the righthand side.

This site is great. I have found it very frustrating with my child's school and I am thinking about home schooling. I will find this useful even for my younger son who doesn't display as much academic ability but will find it exciting and that will hopefully motivate him. All children like being competitive so good on you creating this blog.

I feel that teachers are putting too much time on the naughty kids in the class and the brighter kids are missing out. Thanks for this site. Looking through it I have found some extra activities my own children can do in the holidays to keep the spark in their learning since teachers are not doing it. I am seriously considering homeschooling. Thanks for this information, relevant to New Zealand school kids and of various ages and abilities. Na Cheryl
